It is dramatic history of the afroamerican Henriette Laks thanks to which scientists managed to cultivate "immortal" cells of a human body in the 1950th that literally turned medicine. The cages from a tumoral disease of the woman withdrawn without her permission were steady against survival after several divisions and subsequently helped to develop the vaccines against poliomyelitis, to open secrets of cancer diseases and many viruses. The woman's daughter Deborah and the journalist Rebecca try to understand a chain of the milestone events which changed uncountable quantity of lives.
